Privacy and data retention

In the section Management

Quebec's Law 25 built into the product, not bolted on top of it.

Law 25 does not merely ask for a privacy policy posted somewhere. It asks for consent obtained, then obtained again when the rules change, for retention periods that have been decided, and for effective destruction once those periods end — all of it demonstrable.

Parcours makes these institution settings rather than a side project to run in a spreadsheet.

What you configure

Your legal documents, your way

An institution that already has its own privacy policy and collection notice pages declares them: Parcours shows the consent prompt pointing at those links. One that prefers templates manages them inside Parcours instead.

Consent follows versions

Templates managed in Parcours are versioned. Publishing a new version triggers re-consent, with nobody to chase by hand.

Pseudonymise before destroying

At the end of the first period, a record's identity is redacted while enrolments, attendance and exams remain usable. Statistics and accountability reporting survive the removal of personal information.

Timelines per population

Each retention policy targets a population — students, for instance — with its own period after the end of activity, and is switched on with a toggle. Irreversible actions are announced as such.

Test before you run

A test mode simulates applying the policies at a future date and shows what would be pseudonymised or destroyed. You check the effect before applying it, never after.

Compliance is demonstrated through mechanisms, not intentions. Keeping consent, retention periods and destruction in the same system as the records they govern is what makes the demonstration possible on the day it is asked for.
