Parcours 9: Live Attendance, Availability and Explained Schedules

•Byrnu Team•3 min read

Byrnu announces the availability of Parcours 9. This version brings many new features, developed from the needs expressed by vocational training centres.

This article presents the six efforts that most directly affect the daily work of teams.

Import from GRICS

Parcours can now import training centres, teachers and vocational training students, together with their enrolments, from GRICS.

A preview is presented before anything is written. It makes it possible to check what will be created, updated or left as is, and to identify errors before confirming. Program availability is checked directly in this preview.

Real-Time Attendance and a Redesigned Sheet

Attendance entry has been thoroughly reworked:

  • Live updates: when someone records attendance, the day sheet, the attendance view and the consolidated view refresh on their own.
  • Attendance wall: a tile view that displays around a hundred students on screen, with a keyboard roll-call mode.
  • Automatic saving as data is entered, throughout the application.
  • Display of the teacher for each cell of the sheet.
  • Adjusted hour count: the hour target accounts for late and early-departure minutes, and an explicit action splits hours evenly without overwriting those already entered.

Availability, Annual Workload and the "Lead Teacher" Role

Planning rests on knowing what each teacher can teach, and when. Parcours 9 now offers:

  • availability windows per competency;
  • a work framework for each teacher (contract dates, weekly hours, absences), separate from availability;
  • an annual workload calendar, with a toggle between workload and availability, and a dashboard landing page that presents each teacher's workload;
  • the "Enseignant chef" (lead teacher) role, which widens the teaching view without granting planning or administration rights.

Record Pages and Dashboards

Student and teacher records become three-tab pages that can be shared by link:

  • Student: Identity, Surroundings, Follow-up;
  • Teacher: Identity, Teaching, Workload.

Screens that previously opened without content, for lack of a selected context, now present a dashboard landing page: work placements (ATE), Planning, Teaching, Attendance, Presences, Assignments and the consolidated view.

Student follow-up is also enriched:

  • a second support person, in addition to the tutor (for example a guidance counsellor);
  • a "Shared follow-up" note, visible to the student and separate from internal staff notes;
  • reversible archiving of a student, which closes their enrolments without loss of information;
  • a unified search for adding a person, shared by students and users.

A Scheduling Solver That Explains Its Decisions

The solver builds schedules from the rules of each program. It now presents its decisions more clearly:

  • the group concerned is named when a refusal is issued;
  • when a drag and drop is refused in the sequencer, the screen indicates the rule involved (prerequisite, simultaneous block, etc.);
  • warnings that do not block the calculation are displayed on screen.

Student Portal for Work Placements (ATE)

Students on placement now have their own portal, where they view and fill in their placement journal, activities, evaluations and visits. A printable "Refus de reprise" form completes the file's documentation.
